« S.Marti’s skill shines in La cité des neuf portes. This is a film in which he refuses the easy way out and builds up a stern work that is coherent and nevertheless iridescent. This film is set up as a concerto with its piano and its andante parts. This is a concerto for made up and often dressed up male bodies and a Super 8 camera. Marti most often edits his film in the camera when shooting. He takes advantage of the lightness of his camera for sparkling, filming strokes.
