‘Summer in Zadelbeek’ was born from an anonymous collection of Belgian family films and audio tapes from the fifties and sixties. From these archives I imagined a story, characters and a holiday destination with an imaginary name, Zabeldeek. The story told gives no information about the identity of these people, I’ve use their images to reinvent them and to create my own story. The narrative is written on cards that are inserted between the original images. I am the narrator, I speak between images but also in the images: my part in the film exists as a replay, focuses on certain frames, travelling between, inserting..
