What we see in ‘Au bord du lac', is what we all could film while walking on a sunny Sunday in a park, near a wood at the edge of a river: boaters, a ball game, cyclists, children on the lawn, riders ... But these familiar activities, enjoyable, fun, shot with simplicity, are transmuted by optical distortion (also thanks to the music and loops editing) in a strange spectacle . Colorful shapes are diluted, dispersed in droplets, compressed or stretched, relax as springs. There is no history in the sense that it is usually understood, but a dynamic hybridization (of film and the effect of the painting, the quotidian and the fantastic) rich in suspense and surprises.
