School Memory is an animation that I shot in the Super 8 format, on my own, in my room, over 2 months. This films attempts to translate, through an extreme abstraction, my high school memories, at a time when the construction of one’s identity is a twisting, cryptic and sometimes painful path. The path doesn’t justify itself, or understand itself; it’s just a path, a vector for all kinds of experiences that will eventually build it. School Memory is the story of a process that unfolds in its own destruction. The abstraction, as well as the film itself, is the result of what it evokes, as it’s during the process that I started to draw and that I learned how to use a Super 8 camera.
