Lombair (Lumbar) is an abstract dance video which presents movement in its most elementary colors and tonalities. In this experimental capture of movement we meet the body as a landscape, both interior and exterior simultaneously. It is a choreography of light in which we are invited to explore the physicality of both the night and the silence. The images for “Lumbar” were filmed during a research residency with Australian performer and choreographer Alice Cummins at Performing Arts Forum (PAF) in St-Erme, France in August 2010. The movement generated by the bodies produced abstract images that led to an editing rhythm based on the breath. They led also to a longing for thick and transparent colors, reflecting the reality of the night the images were filmed in. The sound material was produced and edited from the voices of the two performers on this dense countryside night.
